Hairdressing & Barbering
Cutting, colour, barbering and the column economics that turn a stylist into a salon manager.

Hair is the biggest trade in beauty by headcount and the one with the clearest ladder: junior, stylist, senior, manager, owner. "Hair salon near me" draws 1.5 million US searches a month and "barber near me" a million; in India "men's salon near me" is searched 201,000 times. The pathway page covers training routes and, unusually, the management step — because the difference between a good stylist and a good salon manager is the subject of a whole course.
Licensing by market
US: cosmetology or barber licence, 1,000–1,500 hours. UK: Level 2–3 Hairdressing or Barbering (City & Guilds/VTCT); no licence. India: institute course plus salon apprenticeship. Gulf: premises licence, staff health card, gender-segregated salons in some jurisdictions.
The route
Practical training in hair is classroom-only — there is no online substitute for a pair of scissors — so this pathway is delivered entirely by partner academies. The Institute's contribution is the step after: Salon Management for senior stylists, covering columns, rebooking, stylist pay and retail.
Where it leads
Salons, barbershops, hotel salons, freelance and chair rental, and — with the management course — running a salon or a franchise unit. Listings and employers on SalonsWorldwide.com and Salons.Directory.

Questions
Do you teach hairdressing online?
No, and we distrust anyone who claims to. Theory can be online; cutting cannot.
